I remember when Jimmy left Adidas in 2014 but what I didn’t know was how much money he left on the table.  Meanwhile Adidas has invested big in the Bulls having deals with Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose.

According to Crain’s Chicago Business, Jimmy Butler took a roughly 75% pay cut when he ditched Adidas in favor of Jordan Brand.

“Jimmy never wanted to do anything until he felt that he was worthy of it,” says Happy Walters, Butler’s agent at Los Angeles-based Relativity Sports. ”Now he’s more confident and more willing.” Butler, who declined an interview request about his business profile, is selective in what he promotes, his agent says. Out of personal preference, he opted to drop Adidas as his official apparel brand in favor of Nike’s Jordan brand last year, taking what Walters says was a 75 percent pay cut.

“A lot of guys get in the NBA and want to do everything that comes by because they want to see their faces somewhere,” Walters says. “Jimmy has been really patient.”

Jimmy also recently struck deals with Mountain Dew, True Religion Jeans, and has appeared in ads for BMO Harris as well as the Illinois Lottery.  Also Jimmy held out last year on an extension and he went on to win the “Most Improved Player” award for this season.  So needless to say, he will be making up for that lost money.
